KEEP IT FRESH

Writer: franmasonfranmason

This drawing is the result of an exercise I do from time to time. The purpose is to keep me on my toes, my drawings fresh.

I started by painting a random blob in watercolor (I use Schmincke) onto watercolor paper (I use Arches watercolor blocks). I turned the blob around and around and pondered all the angles before deciding upon an idea.

I drew my idea, this man, in ink (I use Speedball ink and a dip pen), then added detail with more watercolor and watercolor pencils (I use Faber-Castell/Albrecht Durer watercolor pencils).

**Don't let the fact that you don't have the best or most expensive art supplies prevent you from trying this exercise. It works with anything you've got laying around!
